Lawn Overseeding is a great way to create a more lush lawn or repair a damaged lawn.
When most think of lawn overseeding they think of just throwing some seed down by had or with a spreader. But this way does not give the best result since the seed to soil contact is very minimal and yield low germination rates. The best time to just broadcast seed over the lawn is after a lawn aeration. As the lawn plugs break down they help cover the seed to improve germination. This is why we use a slit seeder when we over seed a lawn.
What Is Slit Seeding
Slit seeding is achieved by creating small 1/4 inch slits in the soil where the grass seeds are then dropped into the slits to grow. This is the best way to overseed your lawn. The Slit Seeding process is based on the way farmers plant their crops. Seed is distributed in a uniform fashion across the lawn and has a higher seed to soil contact rate than broadcasting the seed on top of the soil for a better germination rate. This is a great way to renovate tired looking lawns and thicken turf for a lush looking lawn.
